Activity of the Project
Given the complexity and the difference of the Public and Private Subjects that participate to the project, and in analogy with consolidated praxis of National and European Grid Projects , the activities are divided in 4 work's groups (WP) endowed each one of internal activity with intermediate goals (OI) or milestones (M). To every milestone corresponds a "product" , or deliverable (D) of the project.
WP1: Planning and realization of the infrastructure of computing
WP2: Collection of Requirements, test of Compatibility of Middleware and access to sources of the infrastructure.
WP3: Technologic transfer and promotion of the service.

WP1: Planning and realization of the infrastructure of computing
The activities of WP1 will consist in the realization of the infrastructure of computing and storage in the 3 university sites , INAF and INFN in Catania, Messina and Palermo and connecting with the Italian grid of the project INFN Grid and with European gridEGEE
WP2: Collection of Requirements, test of Compatibility of Middleware and access to sources of the infrastructure.
Activity of WP2 will be to collect requirements of various industrial applications, analyzing in detail and verifying , through the creation of appropriate test-suite, their satisfaction or not in the various versions of middleware that will be installed in the computing infrastructure.
Particular emphasis will be given in the study of management problematic of software licenses in grid habitat and about the access control to sources and data for saving their integrity.
Furthermore will be treat management problematic of commercial software licences in grid habitat, of the access control to data for the security of their integrity, and of direction (booking and allocation) of the sources.
WP3: Technologic transfer and promotion of the service.
Having that one of the main goal of the project TriGrid VL is the technologic transfer and promotion, the associated activities to wp3 take particular relevance.
This treats the advertisement of the state and of the project’s success in the external world, in the scientific, institutional and entrepreneurial way.
The activities of wp3 aim even to:
- Organization of meeting (opened events that will be every 8 months and where the state project will be presented and where staff s project will meet with public and private people interested to use the computational grid).
- Organization of workshop where public and private company that don’t adhere to the project, will participate to delineate and treat the license problematic about the commercial software and about the security.
- Organization and execution of Tutorials and Pratical Exercitations (at least every 4 mounths) that will be hosted, in a cycle by the differentes sites of Catania, Messina and Palermo.
WP4 : application porting about the computing infrastructure.
Goals of WP4 will be:
- to develop the high level interfaces customers (web/grid portal, etc..) between the applications (scientific and industrial) and the services of the computational grid;
- execute scientific and industrial application’s porting about computing infrastructure.
